The government has come down heavily on private hospitals for not treating poor patients in accordance with their commitments to get land at subsidised rates. Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, the Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said that several complaints have been received in this regard and the government will call a meeting of representatives of these hospitals after the Parliament session. The BJP demanded that the government should set up a committee to go into the issue. Party spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy alleged that the beds meant for poor patients in hospitals are being given to others.
