Govt clears USD 1,500 mn project of World Bank to support Swachh Bharat Mission

The Cabinet gave its approval to USD 1,500 million project of World Bank Support to Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin). <br/><br/>The Project basically provides for incentivising States on the basis of their performance in the existing Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin). <br/><br/>Under the approved project, the performance of the States will be gauged through certain performance indicators, called the Disbursement-Linked Indicators.<br/><br/>The Cabinet also gave its ex-post facto approval for a Memorandum of Understanding between India and the United Arab Emirates signed on 11th February, 2016 to mobilise long term investment into the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund. <br/><br/>Cabinet also gave its nod for 6 venues for FIFA Under-17 World Cup to be held in India in 2017. The venue are JLN Stadium, New Delhi, D.Y. Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, JLN Stadium, Kochi, Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata, JLN Stadium, Fatorda, Goa and I.G. <br/><br/>Stadium Guwahati. <br/>The Cabinet has also gave its approval for extending the tenure of the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis beyond 31st March 2016 for three years. <br/><br/>The major beneficiaries of the proposal would be the Safai Karamcharis and persons engaged in manual scavenging in the country since the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis will work for their welfare and upliftment. The total expenditure for the extension of three years would be approximately 13 crore rupees.<br/><br/>The Cabinet also gave its nod for transfer of land measuring about 90 hactears in Dwarka, New Delhi to the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion for creation of a World class State-of-the-Art Exhibition-cum Convention Centre.<br/><br/>Cabinet also gave its approval to Revised Cost Estimate of 4 thousand 21 crore for the ongoing 720 Mega Watt Mangadechhu Hydroelectric Project in Bhutan. It has also gave the approval for signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between India and Lithuania for cooperation in the field of agriculture.<br/><br/>The Cabinet gave its nod to move official Amendments in the Appropriation (Acts) Repeal Bill, 2015 and the Repealing and Amending (Third) Bill, 2015 and to pursue for consideration of the said Bills pending in Rajya Sabha. <br/><br/>The Cabinet also gave its ex-post-facto approval to the Letter of Intent signed last month between the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of India and the National Qualifications Authority of the United Arab Emirates. <br/><br/>The Letter of Intent will strengthen relations between the two countries and pave the way for bilateral cooperation between the two countries on skill development and recognition of qualifications.<br/><br/>The Cabinet also gave its approval for transfer of 50 acre of land from Central Sheep & Wool Research Institute in Tonk, Rajasthan to the Government of Rajasthan on free of cost basis for establishment of Veterinary University Training and Research Centre by the Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Bikaner.
