Govt cancels Indian citizenship of Congress leader Avtar Henry

Union Home Ministry has cancelled the Indian citizenship of senior Congress leader from Jalandhar in Punjab, Avtar Henry. In a communique to Punjab Principal Secretary (Home), Union Home Ministry informed that Avtar Henry ceased to be a citizen of India from the date he acquired the British Citizenship and Passport in 1969. However, he is at liberty to acquire Indian Citizenship as per the due process of law.
