Govt calls all party meeting on Monday to break stalemate in Parliament

Government will call an all party meeting on Monday to break the continuous stalemate in Parliament over Lalit Modi controversy and Vyapam scam. Briefing reporters in New Delhi this evening, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu said government is ready to accommodate opposition's views for smooth functioning of Parliament and discuss all the issues. <br/><br/>He accused Congress of hurting the country's development by blocking the passage of key reform bills like GST, Land Acquisition and Real Estate Bills with its protests. Mr. Naidu insisted that the washout for the second consecutive week of the Monsoon Session was not due to government's fault. <br/><br/>Mr Naidu hinted that Centre will not concede to Congress's demand for resignation of Union Minister Sushma Swaraj and two BJP chief ministers on Lalit Modi controversy and Vyapam scam. Rejecting opposition's charge that the government has not reached out to them, Mr Naidu said he had called a meeting of various parties this morning as well but Congress backed out at the last moment. The Minister also appealed Opposition parties to re-consider stand over disruption of Parliament.
