Govt. bringing Public Procurement Bill to combat corruption

The government is bringing in a Public Procurement Bill to combat corruption in the procurement process. In an exclusive interview to All India Radio, the Minister in the office of Prime Minister Mr. V. Narayanasamy said that the government spends two lakh crore rupees per annum on procurement of different materials. The Minister said that to check the reported corruption in this sector, the procurement will be done through open tendering.

The Minister said that a lot of investment is coming in the country in the corporate sector. To ensure transparency in private sector funding, government is also bringing a Bill for prevention of bribery in corporate sector.

The Minister said that a number of Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) are receiving funds from the Centre and the state governments. They are also receiving funds from abroad. There is a proposal to bring NGOs under the ambit of Lokpal Bill.
