The government has blamed the opposition particularly the Congress for a virtual washout of the Winter Session of Parliament. Briefing reporters in New Delhi after the end of the Session, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said, the Congress was confused on the issue of demonetisation and adopted a disjointed strategy both in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha over it. Mr Kumar said, the government was ready for a discussion on the issue and there was no need to discuss the matter under ruled which entails voting as it is not a question of minority or majority.

He said, during the session, the productivity of Rajya Sabha was over 20 per cent while Lok Sabha functioned over 17 per cent. To a question that opposition parties including BSP and Left not joined the Congress to meet President on demonetisation, the Minister alleged that the Congress is itself is confused on the issue. He said, the entire nation is supporting Prime Minister's Narendra Modi move but opposition is not able to see the ground reality.
