Govt becomes more citizen- centric in last two years: Jitendra Singh

Union Minister Jitendra Singh has said the Government has become more citizen- centric in the last two years. Inaugurating the two-day Civil Services Day in Delhi this afternoon, Mr Singh said government has been able to address the public grievances more successfully. The Minister said as part of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, more than 28 crore bank accounts have been opened and deposits of about 36,000 crore rupees have been received by the banks. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said Civil Services form the backbone of the country's governance system. He said the Indian economy has great potential to grow at 8 to 9 per cent which will propel India to be the second largest economy in the world. Mr Prabhu called upon all stakeholders including Centre and states to work for national development. He said clearly defined goals along with team spirit are key to governance.
