External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today said in the Rajya Sabha that the government is aware of the cancelled visit of some Indian journalists belonging to private media organisations to Tibet, proposed to be organised by Chinese authorities earlier this month.<br/><br/>Replying to supplementaries in the question hour, she said, government has no details of the visit as the host agency or the journalists have not approached the government for any assistance. Mrs Swaraj said, media exchanges also take place under the aegis of media houses and NGOs in which the government does not involve unless specifically requested.<br/><br/>She said India would like to strengthen the closer developmental partnership with China based on the Astana consensus reached between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June this year.<br/><br/>The Minister said, India and China agree that stronger people to people relationship contributes to enhanced mutual trust, understanding and provides durable foundation for continuous development of bilateral partnership.<br/><br/>She said diversified exchanges in the field of media, including mutual visits of journalists, is an important component of the agreed template between both the countries for expanding people to people exchanges. Mrs Swaraj said, a high-level media forum has been established to further strengthen media exchanges, the last meeting of which was held in Beijing in February 2015.
