The government today assured the Rajya Sabha that all possible steps are undertaken on a continuing basis by the Railways to enhance safety, replying to questions, Minister of State for railways, E Ahmed has said. On Uttar Banga Express accident on July 19th this year, where 65 persons lost their lives, he said the ministry has asked for an enquiry by CBI into this incident. Mr Ahmed informed that 31,616 crore rupees has been earmarked in the budget estimates of 2010-11 for safety measures. He said safety devices introduced to prevent accidents include provision of Anti-collision device, train protection and warning system and auxiliary warning system etc.
