The four day standoff on women reservation issue between the government and the parties opposing its provisions ended today after hectic consultations. After the parley's, the Leader of the House in the Lok Sabha Mr.Pranab Mukherjee made a statement assuring members that all sections will be consulted before women's reservation Bill is introduced in the house. He expressed hope it would assuage the feelings of the members leading to restoration of normal business.AIR correspondent reports that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Mr Pranab Mukherjee held discussions with leaders of various political parties including SP, RJD, JDU and Trinomool Congress Chief to narrow down the differences on the women reservation issue and ensure smooth functioning of Parliament.Earlier seven suspended members of the Rajya Sabha today staged a Dharna in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue in Parliament complex seeking sub-quota for backward class and Muslims. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mr Pawan Kumar Bansal has said that a decision on revocation of suspension of these members will be taken by this evening. Earlier Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mr Arun Jaitley tendered an apology on behalf of the whole opposition and sought withdrawal of the suspension. He was supported Mr Sitaram Yechury of the CPIM.
