Govt asks Telangana to spend MGNREGA funds for water pipeline works

Union Rural Development Minister Choudhary Birendra Singh today asked the drought affected Telangana state to spend MGNREGA funds for Intra-village pipeline works of the ambitious Water Grid project called Mission Bhagiratha.<br/><br/> Along with Minister of State for Drinking Water, Ram Kripal Yadav, he reviewed the drought situation in the state. He said there will not be dearth of funds for taking up drinking water projects in the country as the Centre is going to release 8000 crore rupees soon under the Rural Development programmes. <br/><br/>He also informed that States will be released more funds by the Niti Ayog. The ministers were informed about the steps taken by the state government to mitigate drought affect in the state, especially to provide drinking water. A total 231 Revenue Divisions in the state have been declared in Telangana state that forms two thirds of the state.
