The government today asked the States to be proactive in implementation of the Digitisation of Cable TV networks as it ultimately improve the potentiality of economic growth and employment generation. <br/><br/>Addressing the seventh Regional Workshop on Cable TV Digitisation in Hyderabad this morning, Information and Broadcasting Joint Secretary R Jaya called upon the States to be partners and well prepared to meet the deadlines of the Cable TV digitisation. <br/><br/>She said the first and second phase digitisation enhanced the entertainment tax collection by 40 per cent.<br/><br/>The joint secretary said 830 satellite TV channels have been given permissions and another 200 applications are under consideration of the ministry.<br/><br/>Stating that the digitisation of cable TV network will bring in greater revenues, transparency and stringent grievance redressal system, she said through the digitisation a potential broadband system to connect every household in the country will be available. All the four metro cities and 38 other cities with more than 10 lakh population have been covered during the I and II phases of the cable TV digitisation.<br/><br/>The third phase of the digitisation is under way to cover 7,709 municipal corporations and municipalities by December this year. The rest of the country especially rural areas will be covered by the end of 2016.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Advisor to the Ministry Yogenderpal said a programme code and advertisement code will be implemented stringently.<br/><br/>He said not showing mandatory channels will be seriously viewed by the government.<br/><br/>Andhra Pradesh Principle Revenue Secretary. J C Sharma said the district Nodal officers will be appointed very soon in the state.<br/><br/>He asides all cooperation for the digitisation of Cable Network. Telangana Regional Information Engineer Satyanarayana said the Nodal officers and MSOs will work together.<br/><br/>Nodal officers and MSOs from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Madison, Pondicherry, Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nikobar have attended the day – long workshop.
