Govt asks PSBs, IBA to ensure deposits transparency in customers counterfoils

The government has asked all the Public Sector Banks(PSBs) and the Indian Bankers Association (IBA) to ensure that deposits of new currency is properly reflected in the customers' counterfoils. <br/><br/>In a letter to the Managing Directors and Chief Executive Officers of PSBs and Chairman of IBA, the Finance Ministry said maintenance of records regarding deposits is essential both in the bank record as well as the customer's record. <br/><br/>It also said, all the bank branches in the country be alerted to reflect correctly the cash deposit in old and new currency and inform the customers about the same. <br/><br/>The Ministry said that it must be followed and any deviation in this regard should be prevented and if noticed, dealt with firmly. The Ministry asked the PSBs to consider this urgently and action taken in this regard be reported by 16th of this month.
