The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has asked the media not to carry any report pertaining to movement of Indian troops.

In an advisory issued last night, the ministry said, violations will invite strict action as per the law governing Contempt of Court and also as per the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995.

The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court had on Tuesday directed the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government to ensure that there is no reporting on movement of troops by the print or electronic media.
