Govt asks DRDO to focus on demands of defence forces

Calling for selection of realisable application areas to achieve desired results, the government has asked the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to keep its research activity focused on demands of the defence forces.

According to an official release, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Dr T Ramasami said this while inaugurating the National Workshop on Nanotechnology for Defence Applications.

He also appreciated DRDO's role in Nanotechnology, particularly in the field of sensors and composites. He further emphasized on roping in industry partners in all possible fields. The two day workshop concluded in New Delhi on Thursday.

The event marked the Golden Jubilee of Solid State Physics Laboratory (SSPL), a premier institute of the Defence Research and Development Board working on development of solid state devices for defence needs.
