Govt asks central security agencies to curb pulses cartelisation

The government has asked central security agencies, to curb cartelisation and ensure there is no artificial rise in prices of pulses. The decision was taken in a meeting in New Delhi yesterday by Consumer Affairs Secretary Hem Pande with the officials of Department of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Income Tax, Enforcement Directorate and IB. <br/><br/>Talking to reporters after the meeting, the secretary said that enforcement agencies have been asked to check hoarding of pulses. He said that officials concerned have been told to keep a track of the entire supply chain of imported dals from shipment to final delivery point.<br/><br/>The secretary added that states have also been told to sell tur and urad from the buffer stock at a subsidised rate of not more than 120 rupees per kg and chana at 60 rupees per kg. He also interacted with state government officials of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi through video conferencing and asked them to be alert to check hoarders.
