The government has cleared a proposal for setting up of a National Resource Facility for Bio-medical Research (NARF) at Genome Valley in Hyderabad.<br/><br/> The institution to be established by Indian Council for Medical Research will have a world class facility for breeding and housing of animals required for testing of pharmaceutical products, vaccines and biological research.The total cost of the project will be over Rs 338 crore. <br/><br/>Speaking on the project, Joint Secretary in the Health Ministry, Manoj Pant said, the institution will be fully operational by 2018-19 and will cater to research requirements of about 250 bio-pharma companies. He said, the project will help reduce the cost of research and development in Bio-pharma sector which in turn will lower the production cost of medicines and vaccines.
