The government has approved amendments in minimum qualification norms for school teachers in the country. This was decided in a cabinet meeting chaired by Dr. Manmohan Singh in New Delhi this evening.<br/><br/>The National Council for Teachers Education Act, 1993 lays down guidelines on minimum qualification for a school teacher to ensure uniform quality of teaching in the country. <br/>The fresh amended bill 2009 will be moved in Parliament for consideration.<br/><br/>In another decision, the cabinet has approved the increase in pecuniary jurisdiction of district courts in the Union Territory of Daman and Diu. It has also revised the designation of civil court judges there.
