The Government has approved one crore rupees to clear the dues of five elite tennis players – Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi, Rohan Bopanna and Somdev Devvarman. The players had reportedly threatened to pull out of the Commonwealth Games and Davis cup, if their dues are not cleared. But, they withdrew their threat after getting the assurance from the Sports Ministry about clearing of their dues. Joint Secretary, Sports Ministry Rahul Bhatnagar today said that the money will released to the players. The Sports Ministry accused the All India Tennis Association for delay saying it had not received players' bills from the Association for clearance.
