Cabinet today approved setting up of India Post Payments Bank as Public Limited Company under Department of Posts, with 100 percent government equity. <br/><br/>Briefing media in New Delhi, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said all 650 branches of postal payment banks will become operational by September, 2017. He said Postal Payment Banks will be a game changer, especially in the rural areas. 5000 ATMs will be started for mobile and internet banking. <br/><br/>Government has also approved signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU between United States and India to enhance cooperation in the field of wildlife conservation and combating wildlife trafficking. <br/><br/>With the approval, India will benefit from the expertise of the US Institutions in the field of wildlife conservation and management of wildlife areas and in combating illegal trade of wildlife and their derivatives. <br/><br/>Cabinet gave its ex-post facto approval to the signing of MoU between the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of India and the French Civil Aviation Authority for promotion and implementation of Standards and Recommended Practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization. <br/><br/>The Technical Cooperation programme will be beneficial for enhancement of skills and expertise of DGCA's officers.<br/>Government has also given ex-post facto approval to the proposal for Amendment to the Resolutions dated 3rd March 1987 of the Public Enterprises Selection Board. <br/><br/>The proposed amendments include selection of candidates from State Public Enterprises and Private Sector as non-internal candidates for a period of five years for appointment in Central Public Sector Enterprises. <br/>Cabinet has given its ex-post facto approval to the proposal for Chennai Metro Rail Phase-I Project from Washermanpet to Wimconagar. <br/><br/>It covers a length of 9.051 km. at a total cost of Rs 3770 crore. This extension will provide improved access to public transport for dense population comprising predominantly industrial workers to move towards the central business district of the city for work. Cabinet was also apprised of the signing of MoU between India and Brunei Darussalam in the field of Youth and Sports Affairs.
