The government has approved to set up 12 destinations across five states under the Krishna circuit. As many as 11 destinations are also proposed to be developed under the Ramayana circuit in six states. <br/><br/>The twin proposals came up during the first meeting of the National Committees on Ramayana and Krishna circuits held under the chairmanship of Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma at New Delhi yesterday. <br/><br/>As part of the development of theme-based circuits, projects to the tune of over Rs 300 crore for Uttar Pradesh, have already received in-principle approval from the government. <br/><br/>A government release said that under the Ramayana Circuit the destinations are Ayodhya, Nandigram, Shringhverpur, Chitrakoot, Sitamarhi, Buxar, Darbhanga, Jagdalpur, Bhadrachalam, Hampi and Rameshwaram. The destinations under Krishna circuit are Dwarka, Nathdwara, Jaipur, Sikar, Kurukshetra, Mathura, Vrindavan, Gokul, Barsana, Nandgaon, Govardhan and Puri. Thirteen thematic circuits have also been identified for development across the country under the Swadesh Darshan scheme.
