The government is approaching the World Bank for one billion dollar, about five thousand crore rupee loan to bring more cities under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewable Mission. The money will be granted to states as part of central assistance. In an exclusive interview to All India Radio, the Minister of State for Urban Development, Mr. Saugata Ray said, states like Maharashtra, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh have shown success in its implementation and various components of the Mission are progressing well there. <br/><br/>In reply to a question the Minister said, a proposal is also under Cabinet’s consideration to extend the programme up to 2014. Mr. Ray said that the construction of flyovers in big cities have not helped in easing congestion and, therefore, the Centre is encouraging to strengthen and expand metro rail and transport system<br/><br/>The interview can be heard in our countrywide programme on FM Gold Channel from 9.30 p.m.<br/>
