Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thawaarchand Gehlot today announced cash awards of 90 lakhs rupees for the Rio Paralympics medal winners. Gold medal winner Mariyappan Thangavelu and Devendra Jhajharia will be awarded 30 lakh rupees each, Silver medallist Deepa Malik will get 20 lakh and Varun Singh Bhati 10 lakh rupees for winning bronze medal at the Rio Paralympics. <br/><br/>Mr Gehlot said Indian para-athletes bagged four medals at the Rio Paralympics this year and made history. He said their success has made India proud. The cash awards have been announced under awareness generation and publicity scheme of Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry. Mr Gehlot will felicitate these Medal winners at a special programme.
