Government today announced Lucky Grahak Yojana to encourage consumers and Digi Dhan Vyapari Yojana to encourage merchants for transition to digital payments. Addressing media in New Delhi, Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog Amitabh Kant said, National Payment Council of India will announce 15,000 winners of 1000 rupees each for next 100 days, starting from this Christmas. He said, 7000 weekly awards and maximum award of 50 thousand rupees each for merchants, under Digi Dhan Vyapari Yojana. <br/><br/>Mr Kant said, mega awards under the two schemes which will be announced on the birthday of Dr B R Ambedkar on 14th April. He said, the estimated expenditure of the schemes to incentivize Digital Payments is 340 crore rupees. <br/><br/><br/>The NITI Aayog CEO said, there has been a spurt in digital payments since De-Monetisation. He said, the intention is to make all people across India move towards Digital Payments and make it a mass movement. <br/><br/>Mr Kant said, the Centre has initiated numerous steps to combat the scourge of corruption and black money in the last two and a half years and it has taken a number of measures to encourage digital payments and transition to a less cash economy. <br/><br/>
