Union Food Processing Industries minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal has announced a series of development measures for the North East in food processing sector. Inaugurating the second edition of Vibrant North East program in Guwahati today, Ms. Kaur said that Assam and other states of the region have tremendous potential. She said that three food parks, six food testing labs and five cold storage are being set up in the region.<br/><br/>The minister said that these infrastructure will be operationalized in 30 months which would help in reducing the wastes of food. Ms Kaur said that the North East region has been known for varieties of foods and fruits and she assured that the Centre would take all steps so that farmers could get adequate prices of their products. <br/><br/>Senior officials of NABARD and BSNL said that steps are being taken to improve the connectivity and livelihoods of the people of North East. Seminars and exhibitions are also being organized in the event.
