Prime Minister says, both the government and the ULFA are committed to take the peace process forward. Dr.Manmohan said efforts are also on to bring other underground outfits of the North East to the negotiating table.In a brief interaction with newspersons in Jorhat he said his meeting with the ULFA leadership, led by its Chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa, in New Delhi had a very good beginning and its future will also be good. He said peace has returned to Asaam and the state has developed economically because of several flagship schemes initiated by his government.Referring to the Assam Gas Cracker Project in Upper Assam's Dibrugarh district, Singh said that it will go a long way in solving the unemployment problem in the state.Later he laid the foundation stone of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology Centre at Sivasagar adding a new milestone in the petroleum and hydrocarbon rich Assam. He said the world class Institute will produce technical personnel capable of serving as leaders and innovators in the fields of petroleum technology, engineering and management.Delivering the welcome speech, S Jaipal Reddy said that the institute will be set up at a cost of 148 crore rupees and another 180 crores endowment fund has been created for the institute by the promoting oil companies.
