The government has allowed dispensing cash of up to Rs 2,000 through debit card swipe from selected petrol pumps run by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited where POS (point of sale) machines of the State Bank of India (SBI) are available will have the facility.<br/><br/>The initiative has been launched by the public sector oil companies in association with State Bank of India to ease the burden on banks and ATMs. <br/><br/>According to a press release, the facility will be available at two thousand five hundred petrol pumps. <br/><br/>Senior officials of public sector oil companies and SBI Chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya yesterday decided in a meeting that an amount of up to 2000 rupees per day per person in cash is to be dispensed against swiping of debit card where Point of Sale (POS) machines of SBI are already available.
