Govt. allocates Rs 6755 crore for Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana

To increase production and roductivity of pulses and oil seeds the government today has allocated 6755 crore rupees under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) . It has been allocated to various States and Union Territories under two Special Components. They are Special Initiative for Pulses and Oilseeds in Dryland Areas; and Bridging the Yield Gap in Eastern India. These Components have been included for increasing production in eastern States and also for raising production and productivity of oilseeds and pulses in 60,000 selected villages.<br/> The RKVY was operationalised with effect from August, 2007 with an outlay of 25,000 crore rupees during the XI Five Year Plan. It aims to achieve 4% annual growth in the agriculture sector by ensuring a holistic development of agriculture and allied sectors<br/>
