The Government is making an additional allocation of 4.57 lakh tonne foodgrains to States for issue to APL families. Allocation of foodgrains to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families including Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) families are at present made at 35kg per family per month. For the Above Poverty Line (APL) families, the allocations of foodgrains are made depending upon availability of foodgrains in the Central Pool and past offtake. At present, the APL families are being made allocations ranging from 10kg to 35 kg in different States/UTs.
