Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today met President Pratibha Patil and briefed her about the efforts being made to resolve the Lokpal Bill issue as government is all set to hold third round of talks with the representatives of Anna Hazare who is on fast unto death. An official spokesman said that during the 35-minute meeting, the Prime Minister and the President discussed about various issues of national and international importance.Earlier Congress President Sonia Gandhi, met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today and discussed the issue.Senior Congress leader and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has appealed to Anna Hazare to end hunger strike and join the informal committee to prepare an effective Lokpal Bill. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of an event in New Delhi, he said, talks are going on with Anna Hazare, who is sitting at Jantar Mantar on strike to press for an effective Lokpal Bill to dealing with corruption. More people from different walks of life are joining Anna Hazare in his fast to press for a tough anti corruption law. Governments representative Kapil Sibal holding the talks with social activists said this morning it is not possible to issue an official notification on the constitution of the joint committee, but the government is willing to issue an official letter through Law Ministry and a press note.Social activist Swami Agnivesh today voiced hope that an honourable resolution will be found soon to the stalemate over the Lokpal Bill issue. Agnivesh one of the two civil society representatives holding talks with the government said the activists decided not to join a meeting scheduled this morning at HRD Minister Kapil Sibal's residence over the issue as two of their demands were not met. Agnivesh said that a draft on their demands would be prepared by noted lawyer Shanti Bhushan, Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi and it will be sent to the government and for their response.
