Govt aims to complete all National Highways projects by 2018: Gadkari

The government has set a target of completing all the ongoing National Highways projects by the end of 2018. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari gave this information in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today. He said,the projects related to covering a length of nearly 32 thousand kilometres amounting to over two lakh crore rupees are currently under construction in different parts of the country.<br/><br/>He said, the average pace of construction of Highways at present is about 16 kilometer per day. He also informed that pace of construction is affected due to various reasons including land acquisition, environment clearance and arbitration and contractual disputes with contractors. Mr Gadkari also said regular meetings of Infrastructure Committee are being held to remove these bottlenecks.
