Government today said foodgrain output is likely to be 273 Million Tonnes for 2017-18 in anticipation of good monsoon. Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh the total food grains production is estimated at 271.98 Million tonnes for 2016-17. <br/><br/>Addressing a National Conference on Agriculture for Kharif campaign in New Delhi, Mr Singh said the production of foodgrains is 5.82 per cent which is more than last five years average production. <br/><br/>He asked the states to closely monitor agriculture production and agri products processing activities. Mr Singh said, states should ensure smooth and timely implementation of schemes being launched by the Centre at the earliest. He said the government has been launching several initiatives for the betterment of the farmers. <br/><br/>The Minister said to achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi target of doubling farmer income by 2022, Agriculture Ministry has written to the states urging them to work in this direction.
