Government today admitted that a large number of complaints have been received relating to the distribution of title deeds while implementing the schedule tribes and other traditional forest dwellers Act. In a written reply to the House, Minister of Tribal Affairs Kantilal Bhuria said that these complaints have been sent to respective States and Union Territories for necessary action. He said that the implementation of this Act is with the State governments and its implementation is in varied degrees. While Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Rajasthan and West Bengal have established prescribed structures and procedures, other states are still to catch up. The Minister informed the House that 7.82 lakh titles of land have been distributed so far and another 31 thousand are ready for distribution. Giving details, he said about 28 lakh title claims have reportedly been filed in various States and Union Territories.<br/>
