Communication and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today said that government is very serious about call drops and department of Telecom has been pro-actively dealing with the problem. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, the minister said government has been taking stock of situation including special audit of existing call drop rates. <br/><br/>On the issue of Base Transceiver Station, BTS towers, the minister said centre has taken lot of initiatives on policy level and government building must be allowed to have facility of BTS towers. Mr Prasad also appealed to the public, to not panic on the radiation released by mobile tower. He said an extensive survey and WHO report have suggested that this radiation is not dangerous for health. <br/><br/>The government has also asked, TRAI to address the problem by assessing the infrastructure and capacity of the telecom operators for effectively providing services. Earlier, telecom operators have cited shutting down of mobile towers and lack of spectrum as the major reasons for call drops.
