Govt accuses Congress of stalling Compensatory Afforestation Bill

Government today accused the main opposition Congress of stalling the passage of Compensatory Afforestation Bill by creating disruption in the Rajya Sabha. <br/><br/>The Bill seeks to create Compensatory Afforestation Fund at Centre and state level. <br/><br/>Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Environment Minister Anil Madhav Dave said, after the passage of the bill, states will get around 42 thousand crore rupees which is with the Centre for the afforestation. He alleged that the Congress' negative approach is hampering the rights of the states.<br/><br/>Mr. Dave also charged the opposition party with doing injustice to the poor, SCs and STs by blocking the bill and depriving them of the benefits which may accrue form the new legislation. <br/><br/>The Minister said, Andhra Pradesh itself will get over two thousand crore rupees under the CAMPA bill. The Bill has already been passed by the Lok Sabha during the last session.
