Govt accepets IMG recommendations for de-allocation of 4 coal blocks

The Government today accepted the recommendations of the Inter Ministerial Group (IMG) for the de-allocation of 4 coal blocks. A statement issued by the Coal Ministry says that IMG has recommended to de-allocate four blocks. These blocks are -Bramhadih Block allocated to M/s Castron Mining Limited, Chinora and Warora (Southern Part) Blocks allocated to M/s Fieldmining and Ispat Limited, Lalgarh (North ) Block alloted to M/s DOMCO Smokeless Fuels Pvt. Limited. While recommendation has been made for de-allocation and deduction of Bank Guarantee in case of Marki Mangli-2nd, 3rd and 4th Blocks allocated to M/s Shri Virangana Steels Limited.

The IMG also recommended that in the case of Utkal B2 Block allocated to M/s Monnet Ispat and Energy Limited, where there was substantial progress but no provision for Bank Guarantee, the allocattee may be asked to submit Bank Guarantee amounting to three years royalty within a period of one month from date of letter in this regard failing which the block may be deallocated.

It also said that where there is no provision for Bank Guarantee and the block is not found fit for de-allocation and there is substantial progress the allocattee may be asked to submit a Bank Guarantee. Yesterday in its meeting, the IMG deliberated upon the cases of five companies which were allocated eight coal blocks and recommended the deallocation these four blocks. The IMG will meet again tomorrow.
