The Government has abolished the monthly charges on Digital Satellite Phone Terminal, DSPT which is used by soldiers and officers of various army and para-military units deployed in remote and far flung areas. <br/><br/>They have to use DSPT service provided by BSNL as no other means of communications is available there. Briefing the media in New Delhi, Communications Minister Manoj Sinha said, to use the DSPT facility soldiers and officers at present were paying monthly fee 500 rupees and call charges of 5 rupees per minute. <br/><br/>He said, from Diwali day tomorrow, no monthly fee will be taken for using the service. He said, the present telephone charges of 5 rupees per minute has been reduced to 1 rupee. <br/><br/>He said, with this special Diwali Gift from Centre, Defence personnel can now talk without worrying for more expenses to their home and their Headquarters.
