Noted Marathi writer Govind Vinayak Karandikar passed away in Mumbai today following a brief illness. He was 92. An iconic Marathi poet Karandikar was awarded with the prestigious Jnanpeeth award, India's highest literary recognition. He was also an essayist, critic and has translated Aristotle's poetry into Marathi. Karandikar was regarded as the most experimental among the modern Marathi poets.
