Governors of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab sworn in

<br/>In Punjab, Shivraj Patil has taken over as the state governor today. He is the 33rd governor of the state. Patil is also the administrator of Union Territory Chandigarh. He was administered oath of office and secrecy by Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice Mukul Mudgil at Punjab Rajbhavan in Chadigarh. Haryana Governor, Chief Ministers of Punjab and Haryana, the Information and Broadcasting Minister Ms.Ambika Soni and senior officers of Punjab and Haryana and Union territory Chandigarh attended the function. Kateekal Sankaranarayanan has been sworn in as the Governor of Maharashtra at the Raj Bhavan in Mumbai. The oath taking ceremony took place at the Darbar Hall in Raj Bhavan where acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court J N Patel administered the oath of office and secrecy to the Governor. 79-year old K Sankaranarayanan, who brings with him a vast and varied experience in public life, dominated the political firmament of Kerala for nearly five decades. He was appointed as the Governor of Nagaland on February three, 2007, and held the post till July 25, 2009. He also held the additional charge of the post of Governor of Arunachal Pradesh and Governor of Assam for brief periods. On July 26, 2009, he was appointed as Governor of Jharkhand when the state was under President’s Rule. Outgoing Governor S C Jamir, Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal were present during the oath taking ceremony.<br/><br/>E Srinivasan Lakshmi Narasimhan sworn-in as the full-time Governor of Andhra Pradesh. He was administered the oath of office by AP High Court Chief Justice A Ramesh Dave at a brief function in the Raj Bhavan at 9.45 am this morning. Chief Minister K Rosaiah, his cabinet colleagues, state Chief Secretary S V Prasad and others attended the function. A former Indian Police Service officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, Narasimhan was sworn-in as the in charge Governor of the state on December 28 after Former Governor N D Tiwari resigned citing health grounds after video footage surfaced on Television channels showed him in poor light. Narasimhan also served as Chief of the Intelligence Bureau earlier. <br/>
