<span style="color: #222222;">In Mizoram, the Republic Day celebrations began in the early morning with unfurling of National Flag at residential houses, government and semi-government offices and business centres across the state. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">In Aizawl, Governor Sreedharan Pillai unfurled the national flag at Assam Rifles Ground and took salute of the parade by 36 contingents of Armed forces, Para-military, police and Home Guards. Also, armed contingents, NCC, school contingents and the Band parties demonstrated drill during the parade. Governor Sreedharan Pillai paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Governor also appealed all to take a resolve to preserve and strengthen the unity and integrity of the country and also to work concertedly in making Mizoram where all can live with peace and prosperity. Governor honoured 9 individuals with State Medals.</span>
