India has over 431.21 million internet users with several million new users joining it every month. This has resulted in more and more Indians coming online and using the internet, giving them the freedom to experience and use the internet in every aspect of their lives. <br/><br/>This was stated by Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad while replying to supplementaries during the Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha today. He said the Government is committed to provide internet connectivity to its citizens.<br/> <br/>Replying to the main question, Mr Prasad said the government's Digital India program envision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. He said the pillars of Digital India program namely, broadband highways, universal access to mobile connectivity and public internet access program address the issue of Internet availability in the country.
