Government to reach out to opposition to break deadlock in Parliament

The government is likely to reach out to the Opposition by Monday when Parliament resumes amid concerns over continued disruption of both Houses.

With the first week of the second phase of the budget session seeing a complete washout of Parliamentary business, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath is likely to meet more Opposition leaders.

After a meeting of the Congress Core Group, sources said, the government will also be meeting Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar to find a way to pass the crucial bills especially the Finance Bill.

Mr Kamal Nath on Friday met NDA Working Chairperson LK Advani to find a way out of the stalemate. With only nine working days left in this session, Mr Kamal Nath sought BJP's support to run the House to pass the Rail Budget and the Finance Bill.

In another development, JPC Chairman PC Chacko said he is willing to consider amendments to the draft report on 2G scam. Mr Chacko said, any amendment could be considered if the opposition members convince him through discussion about any wrong thing in the draft. He also expressed readiness for a probe into the leakage of the draft report to the media.
