The Union Finance Minister, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee reassured that the government will provide adequate capital to state owned banks during the current fiscal.

Mr. Mukherjee was addressing the 106th Foundations Day function of Canara Bank, in Mumbai yesterday. Speaking on the fund provision for recapitalization of PSU banks, Mr. Mukherjee said that there should be no apprehensions about banks' recapitalisation.

He informed that a provision of 6000 crore rupees was already made for recapitalisation of PSU banks in the budget 2011-12. He also stated that if needed more funds will be provided to PSU banks.
