The government has decided to allow special landing permits and extension of Visa to the stranded air passengers for a maximum period of 14 days without charging any fees.<br/><br/>A large number of foreigners are stranded at different airports in India due to cancellation of flights on account of volcanic eruption in Iceland.<br/><br/> The move is to ensure that such legitimate foreign travelers are not put to hardship. The power for extension of visa or issue of special landing permits can be exercised by Immigration officers, not below the rank of Inspector of Police, posted at the airports.<br/>
