The Government has termed as baseless the media reports suggesting that Make in India ventilators in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra were not functioning optimally. It said, these reports are incorrect and not supported by full information on the matter. In a statement, the Health Ministry said, the ventilators were available in very limited numbers in Government Hospitals across the country at the beginning of the pandemic last year. As very limited manufacturing of ventilators was taking place in the country, the local manufacturers were encouraged to produce Make in India ventilators to address the huge projected demand. The ventilator models went through rigorous screening, technical demonstration and clinical validation process in the very limited time.

''The Ministry said the ventilators manufactured by Jyoti CNC were supplied to Aurangabad Medical College. It is one of the manufacturers of Make in India Ventilators and had supplied ventilators centrally for COVID-19 management. The Ministry added that this supplier is not funded under PM CARES Fund. 150 ventilators were supplied by it to Aurangabad Medical College.
''
''The first tranche of 100 ventilators reached Aurangabad last month and their installation was carried out as per the allocations received from the state authorities. Forty-five out of 100 were installed in the medical college. The Health Ministry asserted that installation and successful commissioning certificate in respect of all these ventilators was issued by the hospital authorities. Out of these 45 installed ventilators, three were reinstalled in a private hospital and the installation and commissioning certificate was issued by the hospital authorities.
''
''Twenty ventilators out of the above 45 were reallocated to another private hospital by the state's authorities. But, no formal information was provided about this to Jyoti CNC. Therefore, the company had no part in the reinstallation of these ventilators and it was done by the state authorities.
''
''The Ministry informed that 55 ventilators of the first tranche were diverted to Beed, Osmanabad, Parbhani and Hingoli districts and installation and commissioning certificates for 50 ventilators were issued by the hospital authorities. However, five ventilators are lying uninstalled at the Beed Civil Hospital waiting for directions from the hospital authorities. On 23rd of last month, the second tranche of 50 ventilators was sent to Aurangabad. Only two ventilators were installed in a private hospital by the authorities and directions are awaited by the company for further installations of 48 ventilators lying packed in Government Medical College, Aurangabad. A complaint was received telephonically informing that some ventilators were not functioning. The engineers went to the site and ventilators were made functional.
''
''Few days back, Jyoti CNC had received a complaint about some ventilators and they were examined by the team of service engineers and made functional. The Ministry said the Government Medical College and Hospital in Aurangabad has desired that all the 22 ventilators already installed and commissioned there be demonstrated and re-commissioned before the hospital team. The same is being carried out again today by the team of engineers of Jyoti CNC.
