Union Minister of Telecommunications Ravi Shankar Prasad assured the Parliament today that the government is taking various steps to make the two public sector organizations, BSNL and MTNL to make it a profitable organization and also more competitive when compared to the private players in the field. <br />''<br />''Answering to host of questions raised by various members on the issue related to the state of affairs of the two organizations he said that, to improve quality of wireline telephone network, BSNL is replacing Legacy Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) switches to Next Generation Network (NGN) which support a different kind of services i.e. voice, video and data. <br />''<br />''<br />''With the migration to NGN, Minister said that the customer will get enhanced Value-Added Services on wireline like Personalized Ring Back Tone, Multi Media Video Conferencing, IP Centrex, Limited Fixed Mobile Telephony (LFMT) and Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC), etc. This will provide better facilities to customers and at lower maintenance cost to BSNL.<br />''<br />''<br />''Admitting that these organizations face stiff competitions from private players, Minister said that the BSNL has a larger workforce and their interests are also need to be taken care of.
