Government has sanctioned a grant of about Twenty Two Crore and Six Lakh Rupees to the University Grants Commission for awarding Rajiv Gandhi National Felowships to Scheduled Caste students in the current fiscal. According to an official release, the grant comes after the revision of fellowship rates and an increase in number of slots from 1333 to 2000 in this financial year. AIR correspondent reports that the fellowships are awarded to Scheduled Caste students pursuing M. Phil, Ph.D. and equivalent courses.
