Government today renewed its commitment to promote and sponsor meritorious sportsperson including mountaineers. Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the lead wall for mountaineers, the Sports Minister Dr. M.S. Gill said that the sponsorships will be made under Rajiv Gandhi Sports Welfare Scheme. The Sports minister announced that funds have been allotted for construction of Ice-Hockey turf in Lahul and Ice Skating ring in Kaza town of Himachal Pradesh. He stressed on the promotion of sports and health facilities. He asked the corporate sector to come forward to promote the sports in the country.
