The government has increased the entry fee for visitors at Centrally protected 116 monuments in the country from today. For the World Heritage Monuments, the ticket price for domestic visitors has been increased from 10 rupees to 30 rupees and for foreign nationals, it was raised from 250 to 500 rupees.<br/><br/>An official release said, South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) countries are treated at par with Indians.<br/><br/>For monuments other than the World Heritage sites, the entry fee has been increased to 15 rupees from 5 rupees<br/>for the domestic visitor, while foreigners will have to pay 200 rupees which was earlier 100 rupees.The rates have been revised after a period of over 15 years. It was last revised in 2000.<br/>Justifying the move, the Culture Ministry has said this will not only boost the economy of the tourism sector but also help in providing better services and amenities to tourists.
