Government extends ban on SIMI

<span style="color: #222222;">The government has extended ban on the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), which was involved in a series of terror acts in the country, for five years.  </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The decision has been taken as the organization continues to indulge in subversive activities. In its notification, the Home Ministry termed the SIMI as an unlawful association. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">It said,  if the unlawful activities of  SIMI  are not curbed and controlled immediately, it will continue its subversive activities, re-organize its activists and disrupt the secular fabric of the country by propagating anti-national sentiments and escalating secessionism by supporting militancy. The ministry listed 58 cases where members belonging to the SIMI were allegedly involved.</span>
